Qatar is a beautiful peninsular Arab country that extends into the Persian Gulf. With over 350 miles of coastline, you can not help but find some of the most magnificent beaches around.

While there is a lot of amazing places to see in Qatar, the most popular ones are, of course, the beaches. The capital city of Doha has a lot to see, but after some sight-seeing you will certainly want to cool off and relax on the sandy shores.

You will find everything here, from expansive deserts to mangrove forests and several small islands, inlets and coves. What you will not find are any nude beaches, as modesty is the norm here. Bikinis are not allowed.

1. Fuwairit Beach

Fuwairit Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Qatar. The pristine white sand and sparkling turquoise water is so inviting you will have a hard time leaving at the end of the day.

Located north of Doha, this amazing beach is home to the Hawksbill turtle. During the nesting season they do close the beach to protect these fascinating creatures, but you can watch from the fence as the babies make their race to the sea as they hatch.

The sea is very warm and calm, perfect for swimming and playing for the entire family. Enjoy a day of water sports, tanning and beach volleyball, then spend the evening strolling in the moonlight combing the beach for some of the many colorful seashells. It doesn’t get any better than that!


2. Simaisma Beach

Simaisma Beach is a fairly new beach that is a short distance north of Doha. It is situated in a beautiful mangrove forest.
Just a short distance from the beach is a playground, restrooms and food vendors, which makes it much more convenient than other beaches, and easier to bring children.

The cool, wet sand is very refreshing and fun to play in. It is generally not that crowded as it is still new and undiscovered by many. It is a perfect place to bring the entire family for a day of relaxing, having a barbecue and enjoying the warm water.

3. Al Khor Beach

Al Khor Family Beach is another great place to visit in Qatar with the entire family. There are full facilities, including showers. It also has barbecue grills for public use, which makes it perfect for a family vacation.

A grassy area of the beach is a wonderful place to be that is cooler that being on the sand. Spread out your picnic on the grass, and when you are through swimming you will have a wonderful, clean place to dry out and relax.

There is a small restaurant near the beach which is wonderful. If you are too hungry to wait until you get back to Doha, here is your answer! For a beach that has everything, this is where to head.


4. Farkeh Beach

Farkeh Beach is located just east of Al Khor Beach, and is also very family-friendly. It even has a special section just for families. It also has a section that is strictly for women and children, so everyone can feel safe. Plus the kids will love the play zone designed especially for them.

With areas cordoned off for families, if you do not have families you still have large areas where you do not have to worry about running over the little ones while you are playing in the water or on the beach. It really is a win for everyone.

5. Al Dhakira Beach

Al Dhakira Beach is a very beautiful area. It has the largest mangrove preserve in Qatar, which is such a nice relief from all of the sand.
The sand and water is fairly rocky so swimming can be a little bit of a challenge. But it is still wonderfully fun, and there is a kids play area for when they are not splashing around in the water.

Kayaking is very popular here, as is fishing. Bring your own grill, catch some fish and enjoy the freshest meal around. What a perfect way to spend a day!

Bird lovers also enjoy watching all of the amazing birds that call the mangroves home. There are some spectacular ones here that you may not be able to see anywhere else.


6. Zekreet Beach

Zekreet Beach is also known as Bir Zekreet or Ras Abrouq Beach. It is on the edge of the Ras Abrouq Reserve and is most known for the amazing limestone rock formations. The Richard Serra Art Piece is also a famous attraction.

This is a very quiet beach with a rockier beach that is awe-inspiring. This beach is very popular with windsurfers and others that enjoy water sports. It is also an ideal location for camping out and soaking up the beautiful landscape.

Bring your gear and your barbecue and enjoy the crystal clear turquoise water. Located less than an hour from Doha, this is a perfect get-away.


7. Umm Bab

Umm Bab is also known as Al Khraij beach, and is located in the village of Umm Bab near Al Jemailya.
It is also known as the Palm Tree beach. There is a nice cluster of palm trees that give it a magical aura as well as providing some shade.

It has full facilities as well as barbecue grills and even umbrellas for when you are through sun bathing and are ready for some shade. A play area for kids rounds out the options needed to make this a perfect place to spend the day for the entire family.
With the lighting provided around the beach, you do not have to worry about leaving very early and can enjoy the wonderful water or stroll along the beach late into the night.


8. Wakrah Beach

Wakrah Beach is a great beach that is close to stores and restaurants so is very convenient. It is only 30 minutes from Doha as well, so is perfect for a day trip from there.

Mangroves surround this beautiful beach, and birdwatchers have a wonderful time trying to spy some of the exotic creatures.
The warm, clear blue water has areas with the nibbling fish that are popular in many of the fanciest spas of the world. You will feel very refreshed after spending time soaking in the water with these little guys.

The shallow water is perfect for swimmers and waders of all ages. With an area designated for families only, full facilities and a playground, it is a favorite for those with children.

9. Sealine Beach

Sealine Beach is a magnificent beach south of Doha near the town of Mesaieed. To get the full benefits of this beach, you should consider staying at the Sealine Beach Resort.

There is a large section of the beach that is for the general public. There are no facilities here, but it is still a fabulous place to swim, play, sunbathe and enjoy all a beautiful beach has to offer.

The resort rents out all types of equipment needed for whatever water sport you would like to do. If enjoying the endless sand dunes is appealing to you, they also have quad bikes and dune buggies available. For a real Middle Eastern adventure, take one of their camel rides. 10. Inland Sea

Inland Sea, or Khor Al Adaid, is just a short distance from Sealine Beach near the border with Saudi Arabia. To get here you have to travel over and through a lot of sand dunes with no road, so it is recommended that you get an experienced and recommended driver. But once you are there you will see that it was well worth the trouble.

It is an ideal place to camp, which makes it better as the trek to and from the beach can take up too much of the day. It is also a great place to do some fishing, so you can have fresh seafood to grill if your luck holds and you catch some of the tasty fish.

Not only can you fish, swim and play in the water, you will want to try your skill at sand surfing. With endless amounts of sand dunes here, surfing them is as much fun as surfing in the water.

Inland Sea is a great spot for fishing and camping, especially during the winter season. the beach is really scenic and very clean. Overall it takes about two and a half hours to get there.


11. Four Seasons Beach

Four Seasons Beach is the primo place to stay in Qatar. The Four Seasons Hotel owns the beach, and for anyone staying there you will be treated to one of the most luxurious places in the world.

Walk right out of your private cabana onto the beautifully maintained beach just to start your day. You can sunbathe on the beach or take advantage of one of the many shaded areas.

If you do not want to swim in the sea, there is a pool of three levels. Also a hot tub area, whirlpool and a pool, complete with slides, just for the kids.

The staff here is eager to cater to your every whim. You will never want for drinks, snacks, towels or whatever you need. The restaurants are second to none for delicious food, and the spa offers a wonderful, relaxing massage. Hopefully you are there on a Thursday, as those evenings are when they put on a great beach party.


12. Katara Beach

Katara Beach is located right in the heart of Doha, and is the only public beach in the city, as the rest are owned by hotels. This is a very fun-filled beach that is geared up for all sorts of water sports.

This includes such things as sailing dinghies, banana boats, kayaks, canoes, parasailing, windsurfing, water skiing, wake-boarding and knee-boarding, fishing trips and even a bouncy castle in water.

Modesty is very important here. Women are required to be covered up from the elbows to the knees, and sunbathing is not allowed. While these policies are strictly enforced, it does not detract in any way from the fun you will have here.

13. InterContinental Beach

InterContinental Beach is one of the few beaches in Qatar that does allow bikinis. While it does belong to the resort, it is open to the public, for a small fee, on all days except Fridays when it is for guests and members only.

Located in Doha, this is the longest beach in the city. Not only can you enjoy the magnificent sand and sea, you can also enjoy the beautiful pool they have. There is a swim-up bar right in the pool so you always have a cool drink waiting for you.

There is a great covered playground and small pool just for the kids, as well as full restroom facilities and an outdoor restaurant that serves delicious food. Everything you need for a perfect day!
